Is Your Car Scheduled For Shipping, A Magnet For Trouble?

After resolving your mind on who to hire for freight services, what must follow? You should know that there are a lot of stuff you have to deal with. There are certain things that you should keep in mind about Vehicle Shipping.

Know whom to call within the company for inquiries and other serious matter. That way you can trail where your car is at any given time. Also list down the tracking code issued by the transporter.

Secondly, find out how much fuel should be left in your car. Some shipping companies require the level of the gas to be low. This is so fuel leaks and accidents that may result from them may be avoided.

Third, make sure that your car is emptied of all personal effects. Many car carriers do not allow this. Leaving your stuff inside it serves as an open invitation for thieves to burglarize your car.

Companies sometime put load restrictions on a vehicle and you wouldn't want your car to be found in excessively heavy for transportation. Personal effects are not indemnified by the car carrier should anything happen to it. These kind of accidents is not part of the safety net that is stated in your contract with the shipper.

Fourth, deactivate your burglar alarm. Deactivate it before leaving it to your shipper. You may even completely disengage the device if you want to.

5. Before leaving your car to the shipper’s representative, make sure you get the Bill of Lading, which shall also contain a page about the existing damages of your car. It will show the condition of your car upon pick-up so that claims of damages will be easier to establish, should there be any. Make sure you note all dents, scratches and whatnot and that both you and the representative agree on it.

The bill readily tells you what you need to know regarding the shipping transactions of your car. Keep this Bill of Lading at least until after the delivery. In cases of disputes, you will need this document as proof.

Get your car's appearance on film or photo from all sides and vantage. Conduct a careful car inspection when it is already delivered by the company. Check your photos if you must.

Check your documents, don't leave any stone unturned in your inspection. You won't be able to seek for claims of damages if you are in hurry to discharge the company from the contract. It will be easier to smooth things out before you sign any contract relieving your shipper of any responsibilities.
